Working Dairy 1

June 1: First day of work.
Finally settled down in a small room in this big city. Set up clock at 7:00 am and asked Jackie to call in the early morning in case the malfunction of my stupid cell phone. Still, drove entirely an hour before reach the working place, almost got late. Phew~~~ Office manager lead me to my desk, and asked me to study their website for different products and policies the whole morning. Curtis answered some of the questions I had with their products and started the training at noon, which means my lunch break was cut to half an hour. In the afternoon, basically, just wrap up the leftovers from the previous employee, i.e. file UPS claims, void orders, get familiarity with different websites and products, follow up emails with customers. It’s kind of boring since a lot of things are pretty self-explained, but I guess that’s the way it is. Took off at 5:30pm to compensate the loss of 30 mins for lunch break. Anyway, it’s my first day of work. A little disappointed, but still my first try.

June 2, 2009: It’s getting there…
Slept late last night. Fei called at 7:00, and alarm rang twice, but still cannot move my ass out of bed until 7:30. Did everything in a rush. Who cares?! Don’t need to dress up, or really put on make-ups since there’re only 5 people in the office anyways. Ironically arrived 10 mins earlier, and had to wait for the manager to come open the door L. Keep filing UPS claims in the morning. So tedious and boring. Around noon, Curtis started to go through the voice messages with me for all kind of problems with customers. Got more familiar with the websites and company’s business. Starts to feel a little valuable as an employee. However, have to comply my time with Curtis, since I really cannot do anything without his instruction. Better be cautious in the beginning. Hope to get familiar with my duties soon, so to have my own schedule and timetable. Handled several cases by myself at the last 45 mins. Feels good. Took off at 6:00. Worked 30 extra mins. Tired but kind of excited that maybe it’s not as boring and insignificant as I thought. Need to feel I’m a valuable person. Guess I’m getting there.
